Weekly "Bush Twins in Uniform" Watch

It has now been 594 days since Jenna and Not-Jenna Bush, the slacker offspring of Preznit Numnutz, graduated from college and they are still not in the uniform of the US armed services.

Why? Because they have other priorities. They are too busy partying down in Georgetown to show their support for the war by enlisting their chickenhawk-child selves into the military service, that's why.

One of the more memorable cadence chants at the September protest in DC went like this: "Not our sons, not our fathers. If you want war, send your daughters."

Be sure to sign the Buzzflash petition and demand that the Bush offspring enlist, or else bring the troops home. If it's not a cause noble enough for any of the children of the Bush Dynasty to join, then it's not noble enough for our sons and daughters to die for.

Jesus General has nominated "first boyfriend," Henry Hager, to go to Iraq in Jenna's place. That does leave Not Jenna out in the cold, but it's a start.

Hey Phil:

Thousands of my poor friends are getting their legs blown off right now because they are in the middle of a war in Iraq that was started for no verifiably reasonable stated purpose by one President George W. Bush. Who is the gentleman who nominated your father to be a justice on the United States Supreme Court.

Why is it that virtually every kid whose parents have money and influence is in college, or, like the Bush twins, partying down hard in fancy dig in Georgetown (etc.)? This is not to say that you are necessarily a bad person or anything -- but why, since your father is so incredibly well-connected with the folks who started that war -- should the rest of us not ask you to defer your education for a few months to go over there and fight with the poor grunts who could not afford to escape the Iraq Pogrom?

Please think about it. There must be a military recruiter somewhere around The University of Virginia.

Good luck, anyway. I am posting this on MyDD at:

You may certainly respond there, if you feel so inclined! And please remind your father to remind George W. Bush that he is not really a king, although he would do well to pay some attention to the Magna Charta, anyway!

Brown Like Me

RESIDENTS NOT JUST ZANY
by Shayna Kessel

I proudly admit it: We are not normal, but we are not "tilted to the left." We are, however, most certainly a community of independent thinkers who don't owe anyone an explanation for the lives we lead, and thank goodness we are brave enough to express our thoughts, be they about what types of nuts we would be or not, without worrying that our utterances will be thrown into the pool of the swarming Brown stereotype. That's a resounding "no thank you" to argue for my normalcy, and I'll thank the local media in advance for not stereotyping the entire Brown community without a sturdy argument on which to found the assertion.

(But please do note, however, that normalcy has been dropped as a military requirement.)
