This one is making the rounds amongst the wingnuttery with a shrill "See, Ronald Reagan knew the truth way back in the 1950s [sic]!" Actually it was the 1960s, but I'm not going to be picky...

"Oh, if only we'd listened to him", they cry in their shrill chicken-little voices. "We'd never be on the road to socialized medicine the way we are now!"

Okay, what they never mention when they forward this shit is that Ronald Reagan was a paid meat-puppet for the American Medical Association, and the commercial was made at their direction because they were opposed to ... Medicare!

And that's why, whenever your IBIL* or some other moron forwards you this with the usual frantic warnings, point them in the direction of the Teabagger Anti-Socialist Pledge and tell them to give up their Medicare or be branded a hypocrite.

And then, for good measure, you can also remind them of what their god incarnate, Joshua bar Joseph, had to say about hypocrites...
