The Farnsworth Endorsement: The Kiss of Death?

Jeez, you gotta wonder. First I came out for Kucinich, and he drops out. This morning I was all ready to endorse Edwards, and he drops out just seconds before I posted my endorsement of him.

Now I am kinda scared about my new endorsement. Whichever candidate gets it will be killed in the Super Tuesday primaries.

Naaaaw, fuck that. I'm still coming out for Obama. I'm in the ABC school of Democratic politics: Anybody But Clinton.

So there you have it: Your old pal Farnsworth is now an active supporter of Barack Obama and is in the process of joining Veterans for Obama.

I encourage everyone who truly believes that it is time for change in the direction of this nation to join me in supporting Barack Obama in his quest to be the President of the United States in 2008.

Hell Yes! Lock and Load!
Fired Up, Ready to Go elect Obama president. Send those NAFTA and WTO loving, FCC busting Republican-light Clintons back to Hope, Arkansas.
They shouldn't be in New York in the first place, the carpetbaggers.
With Farnsworth and his bad attitude on our team, we'll win this election.
Debby,
Thurston Co. for Obama

hey farnsworth!

what happens in the ABC school if obama isn't the democratic candidate come november and hillary is? are you gonna bite the bullet and vote with the dems, or are you going to vote to put a repub in office?

that very thought makes me sick. i hope that's not a choice any of us have to make.

apologies if you've already answered the question in a previous post somewhere.

take care.

Monkey--
I've mentioned it before but I didn't headline it. If Shrillary is the nominee, I will hold my nose and suspend my own values and campaign for her.
The reason why? Two words: Supreme Court. Any Dem (even her) will nominate judicial candidates who are exponentially better than anything the Rethugs can come up with.
And the next prez will get to nominate at least one -- and most likely more than one -- member of SCOTUS.
It's already dominated by Dominionist idealogues, and we need to try to institute some balance.
Realpolitik raising its ugly head, but that's what I'm gonna do. I cannot see any possible scenario that would encourage me to vote for a Republican.

Suicides among active-duty soldiers in 2007 reached their highest level since the Army began keeping such records in 1980, according to a draft internal study obtained by The Washington Post. Last year, 121 soldiers took their own lives.

Now, what are the suicide rates for american males. 17.9 for 100,000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate

Now, let's look and see how many people we have on active duty: As of April 2007, about 1,426,700 people are on active duty in the military. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_of_the_United_States

Doing some basic math (yeah I know there are females in the military and they would lower the rate)I see that if you had the same number of their civilian peers, the number of suicides would be 255 verus the 121 of those in active duty. Lower suicide rates, have more people join the military!!! Sort of sounds like the New York Times piece talking about how returning Iraq vets are on murderous ramage back in the states... Until you look at the numbers and it shows that homicide rate for vets is waaaay lower than the general population.

So how can you, as a disabled Vietnam veteran, support someone who has never been in the service and doesn't have the furst clue about veterans issues? Seems like you ought to be supporting John McClain.

PH -- blah blah blah yap yap yap.
Anon -- I suppose you're in the "if you're a woman you have to support Hillary" camp as well.
John McCain (note: It's McCain; we're not talking about Bruce Willis here...) may be a veteran, but he's another rightwing anti-veteran Bushco clone. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, he must love disabled veterans since he wants to make so many more of us.
For the true facts on Obama's support for veterans, check this out.
