Fixing the Economy

Down in Florida, the Tampa Bay newspaper asked its readers for their ideas to fix the economy, and they got back a slew of responses, but the best one is this:

Patriotic retirement:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force … pay them $1 million apiece severance with stipulations:
They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings — unemployment fixed.
They buy new American cars. Forty million cars ordered — auto industry fixed.
They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage — housing crisis fixed.
--David Otterson, Largo
Brilliant! My only problem with it is that I apparently retired too early to get the bribe incentive. Damn, it's always my luck...

Only problem, multiply 40 mil by 1 mil you get a realllllllllly big number.
40,000,000,000,000.00
Funny solution unfortunately, aint that much money.
That said, where do I sign up for the million?

Even given that now "trillion" is the new "billion", we are still dealing with numbers that are beyond the ken of the average mathematician, let alone the rest of us, the great unwashed out here in la-la-land...
Are we fucked? Yeah, big time. In fact, the best guess is that we are fucked beyond our wildest nightmares.
BTW, this situation reminds me of the Archie Bunker solution to airplane hijackings: Arm all the passengers.
Might work and what do we have to lose?...
