Man, these numbers really sock you in the gut. So many say we need to keep on with all of this so those we've lost haven't died for nothing. I don't get it. We need to bury more military men & women out of honor to those who have passed before them? That's just not a good enough reason.

You also think of those 700,000 plus civilians who have hundreds of friends and family members left to grieve their deaths. I hope that grief is not translated into anger towards our country.

I know we are supposedly fighting those who could 'get us', but it seems to me we are keeping ourselves, geographically speaking, in their reach. Everyone and their brother who wants a piece of the United States but doesn't stand a chance of crossing the ocean to get to us can simply ride their camels into Iraq. It feels like a constant shuffle of opponents. We take care of one and 5 others pop up.
