They Can't Handle the Truth!

In a new analysis out of the University of Georgia, it turns out that so-called conservatives are increasingly watching the Faux News channel, to the exclusion of everything else.

It's a circle-jerk echo chamber with a feedback loop that would fry the brain of any thinking person, but it's a good thing for them that they just don't -- can't -- think. They don't want to get any news from any source that could possibly shake up their stunted preconceptions about the how the world works.

I'll confess that I'm aware of a small number of liberals who have similar ideas, but by and large we liberals don't shun news sources just because their stories don't happen to reinforce our prejudices. While I don't watch Faux News on general principles, on a semi-regular basis I will tune into wingnut radio, just to see what kinds of lies Drugboy, Slanthead, BOrally and the rest are spewing to their mindless dittohead lockstep drones.

After all, "know your enemy" and all that...

Occasionally I tune in to Rush Limbaugh, just to see what he's up to. Today he was advising Obama supporters to riot at the Democratic convention if "they" take the nomination away from Obama and "give" it to Hillary. Seems he'd like a repeat of 1968, which the Republicans used to their advantage in the election that year: scaring people into thinking the nation was going to hell in a handbasket. Well, it was, not b/c of the demonstrations at the convention (which used to be called Free Speech, and didn't used to be confined to "Free Speech Zones"), but b/c of the Vietnam War. Anyway, Limppaw calls his program "JERK"; the J standing for "justice" (as if that's what the Obama protesters would be seeking from their party), and the K stands for Kindness. (?) I forget what the other letters stood for; I was driving and couldn't write it down. Now what kind of "patriot" incites people to riot? And why is my tax money going to broadcast this claptrap to our troops? And what is WRONG with people who would listen to this stuff?

mrin, Isn't it Al Sharpton and other democrats who are calling for protests if the nomination is taken away from Obama? And then there's the Recreate 68 democrats who state:

Welcome to the "Re-create 68" website, your virtual activists' Convergence Center for the Denver Democratic National Convention of 2008. This website was created for all the grassroots people who are tired of being sold out by the Democratic Party.

R-68 agrees with the proposition, POTESTAS IN POPULO, "all power comes from the people." What stands between the people and power are the party machines. The parties were devised as a means to represent the people. Today they represent nobody, not even party members, but only party bureaucracy. The people have been left without appropriate institutions for their representation. We intend to create those institutions!

Join us in the streets of Denver as we resist a two-party system that allows imperialism and racism to continue unrestrained.

Sometimes we need to look back to move forward. In 1968 there existed a spirit of change, the Paris Rebellion, Prague, Chicago, Vietnam, etc. People believed, around the world, that they were capable of taking over the institutions that controlled their lives. The smell of revolution was in the air. Over 1 million college students openly identified as revolutionist. People believed that through mass participation in the movement, it was possible to wrest control from the elite power-holders. They were not willing to accept the loss of their human and civil rights.

Recreate 68 is not a throwback group trying to relieve some vision of glory days long gone. We are predominantly a youthful group that has realized that 40 years later, we have only produced apathy in our communities towards making effective and lasting change. We intend to recreate that need for change and mass participation in the events that shape and control our lives. We intend to recreate that revolutionary feeling and pick-up where our predecessors left off. It is time to reclaim the ideals that we have forgotten and leap forward by stepping back and using that voice inside of us that has been telling us something is seriously wrong, a voice that is shouting for change, a voice that has realized we live in a police state and we have stopped moving forward 40 years ago. When we recreate positives and discard negatives from our collective memories of the past and realize the true power that the people possess, we will have the ability to make 2008 a very special year. This is the true meaning of Recreate 68. Don’t let this historic moment pass you by. Join us on this journey and have your energies and voices heard in the streets of Denver, as we demand change during the DNC in 2008!

“Barack is the one who’s been giving out hope to young Democrats,” said Glenn Spagnuolo, a leader of the group Re-create 68. “If that gets taken away by the superdelegates for Hillary, there’s going to be a lot of frustrated people.” [source]

If Hillary gets the nomination, we’re going to have very large numbers — a solid 50,000 people at every event,” said organizer Glenn Spagnuolo. [politico]

Besides mrin, how much influence do you think Rush has on Obama supporters? Do they even listen to him? That like saying that republicans would listen to Howard Dean.

And the military memebers are the ones themselves who voted that they wanted to listen to Rush. He's a great supporter of the military unlike most other members of the MSM.

And... can you honestly say that if the shoe was on the other foot that Moveon.org and/or DailyKOS wouldn't be advocating the same thing? It's funny how when Rush told republicans to vote for Hillary in Penn and other states that democrats were crying foul but you guys didn't have a problem with it when Moveon.org and DailyKOS were telling democrats to vote for Romney to keep him in the race to cause problems for republicans.

Farns, that's a pretty good comedy routine you have going there. "I will tune into wingnut radio, just to see what kinds of lies Drugboy, Slanthead, BOrally and the rest are spewing to their mindless dittohead lockstep drones."

What lies Farns? I challange you to name some. Have there been occasional errors, sure there has. Even the NY Times has corrections on a daily basis. You yourself make lots of mistakes, just like when you said that Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno whose command of the 4th Infantry Division in Iraq was highlighted by a series of war crimes.

And at least on Fox we get to see what democrats have to say on the issue. Didn't they just have Obama on Sunday? President Clinton on a couple months ago, Hillary coming on shortly? We aren't the ones who will buy devices just so the TV won't accidently switch to the Fox news channel, we aren't the ones who canceled a debate because it was associated with Fox news. You yourself won't watch Fox news just because you don't like seeing a different perspective on the news. It's liberals who have a phobia of being contaminated by impure thoughts and the truth. That's why there is such a hatred by liberals to Fox News.

We aren't the ones who are the nazi brownshirts who are in lockstep, we went against one of Bush's Supreme Court picks and against Bush on immigration. Liberals are the one's who are in lockstep even when it hurts the country. Just look at the trade agreement with Colombia. Currently there is no tariffs for items coming into our country from there but our goods have up to 35% tariffs on them. Signing the agreement would remove the tariffs on our goods, allowing us to sell more goods which means more work for Americans. And you want another example of liberals being in lockstep, ask Joe Lieberman what happens if you have a different opinion.
