The Self-Correcting Blogosphere

I originally had posted a "Shut the Fuck Up" post here about Kerry and his screwed up joke about students and Iraq.

I've had second thoughts and decided that I was a little ... abrupt... in condemning the senator for his remarks.

I still don't like him very much, and I'm still steamed about him not fighting back against the Swifties and for rolling over in Ohio, but I'm not going to let that cloud my judgment.

At least he's giving it -- and dishing it out hard -- to the Rethugs, and that's nothing but good.

So (as my wife will attest) as much as I don't like to do it, I'm saying "I take it back".

Kerry's coment was not upsetting. The fact of the matter is, colledge kids avoid service in huge numbers. Under-educated kids sign up in droves. Why do you suppose Bush has policies designed to make it very expensive to go to colledge? Tuition costs keep going thru the roof up here in Minnesota, I imagine they are rising, steeply, everywhere. Unless you have money, or can go to work for daddy, it is a very difficult time for young people to get jobs, president dip-shits job creation number bear that out. U guess prez bungrot figures it either starve, or sign up, aint he clever.....

The irony of it all is that the press and politicians on all side have been moaning about how soldiers are from the low income class and how they are poorly educated.

Kerry should just keep his mouth shut. He tends to insert his foot to damn much.

the bigger issue is that the right nitpicks everything because they have nothing- NOTHING- to offer. not to mention the fact that rumsfeld alluded to the poor in the military when this whole shebang started and the recruiters haven't known what to do with lower than usual numbers. even poor kids don't want to get killed for nothing.

Kerry is something of a nitwit who almost can't help putting his silver foot in his mouth, but he was referring to Bush's lack of foreign policy know-how with that tasteless and poorly conceived joke-- not the intelligence level of U.S. grunts.

Kerry is a Beacon Hill twit with the brains of a peanut monkey. What the fuck was he trying to say, college kids get defered, and the rest of the 'po' folk do the fighting? Didn't anyone till him the draft ended 33 years ago? He was probably too busy throwing his PX bought medals over the White Fence to note this well known fact. As for the draft dodging Republican reaction, beyond pathetic...
