We're a nation that just loves blowing stuff up. So, unless you want to drive out in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, you just can't get away from fireworks.
Next year I'm not going to try. I'm just going to take some Xanax (the palindromic pill) and zone out for three days.
But the good news is that it's finally summer!!! Temp was in the high 80s yesterday, supposed to go to 93 this afternoon. Yay! Last year we had an early spring and a long dry summer. It was great. I took the top off the Jeep in early April and didn't put it back on until late September. This year was different. It was cold and drizzly right up to the 4th, but now summer has arrived in all its sweltering glory.
She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed hates it. She's good only for daytimes stretched out on the couch with the portable A/C blowing on her. But she's a Northwest Girl, and never got used to the heat. I grew up in Oklahoma where it was common to have long runs of temperatures hovering near the 100 degree mark.
To each his own, I say.

You Can Run But You Can't Hide

I am with She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed. It is too hot whenever it gets over 80, and inhumane at over 85.
