Will the Romney Boys Enlist Now?

Way back in August of last year, at one of those "Ask Mittens Anything" forums in Iowa, back when he still had delusions that he could actually get the nomination, Mitt Romney was asked why his sons have not served in the military. His answer was as stupid as it was arrogant:

My sons are adults. They've chosen not to serve in the military in active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. … And one of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president.
He also said that "the way his sons are showing support for the military of our nation is to buy a Winnebago and tour across Iowa and help him get elected."

Okay, fair enough, I suppose. We all have hard choices to make when it comes to defending our nation in the War on Terratm. But now that Romney is out of the running, don't you think that the next best way for those strapping young men -- all of whom are still young enough to enlist and serve not only their country but also the wars that their father was so vocal about supporting -- is to finally man up and enlist in the service?

Anyone want to get in on the wagering whether they will actually do it? Even if I give you one-thousand-to-one odds, I still won't get any takers.

[Note to PH: It's still called HYPOCRISY.]

So Farns, when are you going to send your kids and grandkids to Iraq to be human shields?

Otherwise it's just hypocrisy...

And Farns... if we have a volunteer army, and a adult can make his own desicions at 18, how is Bush or Romney supposed to force their kids to join the military?

I could agree with you if parents could legally choose the careers their kids went into but they don't.

So, where is the hypocrisy at exactly???

PH, you're beating the same dead horse. If I don't believe that any Americans should be in Iraq, why would I send my own kids and grandkids to be used as "human shields" (whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean)?
Once again you make absolutely no sense. But I've come to expect that from you.
Why do you hate America so much?

Lol Farns, you're cute when you are losing an arguement.

You know exactly what a human shield is. Anti-war nuts went to Iraq before the war to become them.

And you're still using the same dead arguement that kids not going to war for their dads is somehow hypocrisy. It's not and you know it.

I used to think you were missing the point intentionally. Now I'm not so sure.
I'm beginning to suspect that you've drunk the Koolaid so much that you've got some serious brain damage.
You're still missing the point. As usual -- no, as always!
BTW, don't you have spell-check on your computer?
Why do you hate America so much?

Sorry Farns I just can't see what your point is... It must be a stupid liberal thing. No matter how I try to twist and turn logic, I can't see how a son or daughter's career path has any bearing whatsoever on my beliefs.

And why do keep on calling me a liberal?

Don't you have fact-check on your computer?

No, really. Why do you hate America so much?

Anyone who believes that prominent people shouldn't show support for the war they believe in must hate this country.

I believe Bush has shown support for this war.

So Farns, when are you,the old lady, the kids and the grandkids going to Iraq to be human shields?

You guys need to protect the terrorists, they were just underprivileged kids in their youth and if they had a better upbringing they would be fine upstanding citizens. None of it's really their fault, you see, globabl warming has made it warm were they live and that's why they are so cranky... so you see, it's all Bush's fault... If he had just listened to the Goracle, there would be no terrorists in the world.

Anybody that believes that US citizens ought to be used as human shields must really hate this country.

alright, looks like PH is one of those keep in IRAQ people not willing to listen to logic and facts but will propaganda for the shruby about terrorist in Iraq. Terrorist that attacked us were not from Iraq PH. They weren't in Iraq until a year after Bush invaded. Oh and what an invasion that was! Rush past all strategic points on your blitzkrieg to Baghdad so that the pissed off civilian population can steal the military ammunition and craft bombs that will kill your soldiers who are occupying the country. Got to wave the glory flag you fucking moron.

If anyone came into the US and liberated us from BUSH and did not leave, I would be out there shooting at them. What do you expect the Iraqs to do? throw flowers at our troops for destroying their infrastructure and then occupying the country forever?

Ah drainbagaged... it might help if you actually knew what you were talking about.

The 9/11 Commission Report (p. 66):
"In March 1998, after bin Laden's public fatwa against the United States, two al Qaeda members reportedly went to Iraq to meet with Iraq Intelligence. In July, an Iraqi delegation traveled to Afghanistan to meet first with the Taliban and then with bin Laden."

Bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee Report (p. 331):
"Twelve reports received [redacted] from sources that the CIA described as having varying reliability, cited Iraq or Iraqi national involvement in al Qaeda's [chemical, biological, nuclear] CBW efforts."

Abu Nidal murdered Leon Klinghoffer - before taking refuge in Iraq.

Zarqawi was said to have received medical treatment in Baghdad in May and June of 2002 (ah that would be BEFORE the war with Iraq) after being wounded in Afghanistan during the war. His leg was amputated, U.S. officials say, by a surgeon in Iraq.

Before the war, Secretary of State Colin Powell pointed to Zarqawi's al Qaeda-affiliated group that he said was operating inside Baghdad, as evidence of ties between al Qaeda and Iraq.

Powell told the U.N. Security Council in early February that after al Qaeda and the Taliban were ousted from Afghanistan, Zarqawi established a camp in northeastern Iraq to train terrorists in using explosives and poisons.

During Zarqawi's stay in Baghdad, nearly two dozen of his associates set up a base of operations in the capital to move people, money and supplies throughout the country, said Powell. http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/04/29/sprj.irq.terrorist.capture/index.html

Damn drainbamaged don't you hate it when you get bitch slapped?
