Julie Amero Update

You might remember the case of Julie Amero, the middle school teacher in Connecticut who was convicted on a "morals" charge for "allowing" her students to view pornographic images on a school computer.

This became a pet project of mine when I first heard about it, and now I am pleased to report that a judge has set aside Julie's conviction.

While the ruling means, under the strict interpretation of the law, that Julie is entitled to a new trial, my best guess is that the prosecutor will drop it faster than a flaming blunt.

Way to go, Julie. I knew that you would prevail.

But...just in case, I'm going to keep my eye on this. If that asshole prosecutor refuses to face reality, he might just refile the charges, and in that case, Julie will need more money in her defense fund.

And once again I'll be glad to donate as much as I can.
