GOP Hypocrisy Number Umpteen Million and Something...

I have to admit, I missed this one. It wasn't until I started perusing back issues of Buzzflash's GOP Hypocrite of the Week series that I saw it.

Remember when the Rethugs went ballistic over the left wing's criticism of the Scooter Libby "pardon"? The first thing they brought up was Clinton's pardon of Mark Rich. Remember that?

I guess they'd forgotten that Poppy Bush (#41) had, as one of his first official acts, pardoned everyone in sight who could have pinned the tail on him as bagman for the Iran-Contra treason.

But wait, that's not the half of it.

It turns out that Mark Rich availed himself of one of the most-connected lobbying firms on K Street to help in his seeking of that pardon. In fact, he got himself one of the most-connected, high-power lobbyist attorneys on K Street in those days.

That attorney's name?

I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby!

So how do those rabid Busheviks who were so quick to point the finger of indignation at Mark Rich justify that Scooter, that sterling example of American patriotism and straight-shooting honesty, was instrumental in getting the Rich pardon?

And how do they justify that Rudy "No-Lips" Giuliani (R-Mafia Thug) was the one who sought Rich's conviction, decried his pardon, and NOW says that Scooter should have been pardoned?

Answer: They're the Rethugs. They don't have to justify anything!
