A Blast from the Past

It might behoove us on this Thanksgiving Eve 2007 to take a little trip down memory lane and watch a short video featuring none other than 1940's Republican candidate for President of the United States, Wendell Wilkie -- who was, in his own words, a liberal:

If Wilkie were still alive today, there's no doubt in my mind that he would be a Democrat. Just listen to some of the "controversial" ideas that he's on record as supporting.

Hell, he'd probably be held up as a traitorous supporter of terrorism by the strident assholes in the rightwing blogosphere.

An interesting experiment would be to write down all of the concepts and ideas that Wilkie says he supports in this video and then present it to that right-wing creepizoid of a brother-in-law of yours who's coming over for dinner tomorrow. Ask him what he thinks about someone who espouses such dangerous socialistic ideas, and finally spring the ambush: Tell him that they are direct quotes from the 1940 Republican Party nominee for president.

And then watch him start to squirm. Heh heh heh...
