It has now been 784 days since Jenna and Not-Jenna Bush, the slacker offspring of Preznit Numnutz, graduated from college and they are still not in the uniform of the US armed services.
Why? Because they have other priorities. They are too busy partying down in Georgetown to show their support for the war by enlisting their chickenhawk-child selves into the military service, that's why.
Why can't they be like their royal counterparts in the UK? The Royal Family, unlike the Bush Crime Family, has a centuries-long tradition of honorable military service. Prince Andrew was a combat helicopter pilot in La Guerre de las Malvinas (aka the Falklands War), Prince William, direct heir to the throne, has entered Sandhurst (Britain's West Point), and little brother Prince Harry graduated from Sandhurst in April and could be on his way to Iraq as a cavalry lieutenant.
Those of you who think the proud military tradition of this nation needs to be upheld by those most likely to profit from it, be sure to sign the Buzzflash petition and demand that the Bush offspring enlist, or else bring the troops home. If it's not a cause noble enough for any of the children of the Bush Dynasty to join, then it's not noble enough for our sons and daughters to die for.

Not as a matter of law but correct me if I am wrong, but are not most, if not all, Congressmen and Senate offspring ipso facto exempt; are they not bypassed because of their status? Yes, I agree. The Brits do lead by example, leadership alway's does.
Not really "exempt" since we don't have a draft. They are certainly eligible to enlist -- and ought to, especially the offspring of every congressman and senator who voted for this fucking war.
Even back in the days of the draft, the children of the wealthy and powerful were not specifically exempt -- not in any official way, anyway, but they had avenues and backdoors and a multitude of ways to work those family connections and avoid service.
Like joining a "champagne unit" of the Texas Air National Guard, for instance, or getting five student deferments because they had "other priorities" and then coincidentally getting his wife pregnant with a Lesbian baby when those deferments ran out.
And don't forget what Colin Powell said, back when he still had a soul:
"I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed... managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units...Of the many tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrimination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal and owe equal allegiance to their country."

Unfortunately, I really don't know -- and can't understand -- how General Powell could put aside his own deeply-held convictions and go to work for exactly the kind of person he decried in his book.
The petition is a great idea, but unfortunately it's been closed so nobody else can sign.

I was at the local VA Hospital a couple of months ago and the doctor happened to ask me what I thought about the Iraq war....a fuckfest, I replied. What do you think should be done, asked Doc? Simple, draft every American of eligible age from the President's spawn on down, members of the Senate's and House's kids. The result of such action would create such a revolution in this Country, we would have the wisest policy makers, the best Military in the world, and 100% of the American people would hold those that send men and woman to war accountable.
If you think Democrats are the solution, better think again.

The Dems piss me off almost as much as the Rethugs, but our ONLY chance to hold Der Monkey Feuhrer at all accountable for his maladministration's lies is gaining back both house of congress this year.
By and large the Dems in congress are a bunch of lily-livered knee-knocking tutu-wearing candy asses, but...if they are finally in the majority, then the rest of out here at the bottom of the pyramid can hold their feet to the fire and MAKE them do something.
That's never going to happen if the Rethugs maintain control.
I'd like to see a rational, reality-based third party movement arise, but as I've said before, I'm 61 years old and I don't have the time or the energy to devote to the creation and establishment of a third party. That's a 20-year commitment, and I want to get the Rethugs out NOW! This year. Not after I'm dead and buried.

I can see you point on the second and I agree the monkey king and his running dog clique has to go.This may piss off the Christian Coalition eagerly awaiting WWIII and the Rapture, but what do I care of Pat Robertson shattered world? Give me smarmy, sweating,blubbering Jimmy Swaggert anyday; what the hell does he care about Chavez and Castro hugging? He wants to get laid.
