A Lost Generation

A lost generation. That's what it seems like to me, with Obama giving up without a fight and giving the rich motherfuckers their two-year tax cut extension, and the spineless Democrats are going to go right along with it. I really can't see Obama attempting to run for reelection now and trying to gin up that whole "hopey-changey" thing again in two years. I know a lot of people who will not vote for him again because he's Republican-Lite.

I'm particularly pissed off since I worked so hard to get him elected. That whole Hopey Changey Thing isn't working out for me, or anyone I know. When I voted for Obama, I wanted another FDR and instead I it looks like got another Clinton (who, to be fair, was the best Republican president of the 20th Century)

All the Dems have done is kick the problem down the road two years, so the tax cuts will expire in an election year. Can you imagine the Democrats trying to do anything with it when they are in an election cycle? No, I didn't think so, and in the meantime the deficit that could have been partially plugged by that tax income will just get bigger and bigger.

It's a missed opportunity, and a HUGE one. Now it'll be a cold day in hell when those two-percenters have to pay anything resembling their fair share of taxes in this country, and in the meantime we'll have a country coming apart at the seams and the only tailors who can sew it back together are Chinese...

And the Rethugs will finally have their way, a government so small that they can drown it in a bathtub.

I'm seriously thinking about getting out. The only problem with that is that there is no reasonable way to actually get off the planet...

Ironically this news came on the very day that I was being sworn in as the Democratic Party Precinct Committee Officer in my local party.

Oh, the humanity...

You're so fucked! Now you have to lead the charge...

Yes, and I will feel like the Uncle Teddy character in Arsenic and Old Lace leading the charge up the San Juan staircase...

Better to be Teddy than the poor old dudes drinking that elderberry wine made by the aunties!

But yeah, I'm hearing how he HAD to compromise...but you know, it sounds more and more like what women being raped used to be told: You can't fight and win, so you might as well lie back and not get beaten; smile and pretend you enjoy it.

Thanks, L. That's what it feels like all right.
I'm thinking of moving to some Third World country where the taxes are low, the military keeps order, and the government runs its police state and ignores old guys like me.
Oh, wait, we've got that here. Except for the "ignoring old guys like me" part...
He "HAD" to compromise. Bullshit. This was a missed golden opportunity to draw a clear line in the sand, one that could be seen from the surface of the moon, and show the difference between Democrats and Rethugs, and THE FUCKER FUCKIN' BLEW IT!!!!!
Can you tell I'm STILL bitter...?

My favorite is the Rethuglican resistance to passing a bill to give healthcare to 9/11 responders. I heard on Public Radio tonite on the way home from a nine and a half hour day of work that they call it 'Another Entitlement Program'.....

For the past 6 or 7 years, I tell my husband to please get me a rocketship for xmas. I am so over the criminals running this planet that I will take my fucking chances in Space.

Ya with me, Farnsworth....?

Farnsworth68 said...

Another "entitlement program", huh? Like "air" and "water" and "food"...
Thanks, jae.
Get that space ship ready. Armageddon outta here! President Palin will make that more than necessary. Just make sure there's room for an old fat guy (me) and She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed. She won't let me leave without her...

We needed FDR and we got LBJ.

Obama needs to confess his sins in extending the war in Vietnamiraqistan, and hand over his endorsement to a real progressive like Bernie Sanders or Dennis Kucinich.

Brasil. If I could get out that's where I'd go. Got their troubles for sure but they've tossed a lot of the nasty right wing extremes of the past and are looking ahead.

But Farns, I'm proud of you for living the irony.

Thanks, BK and NA. Glad you're still around.
Brazil, huh? I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense.

Yeah, you can bail. I did when I saw that george the genius and the asshat from Wyoming were going to get to screw up the country for four more years.

I don't want to live in a country that votes by the idiotbox and the lying "news" papers and magazines.

I chose Peru. My income is over $12,000 per year so I have permanent resident status.

I have the best medical, eye and dental care that I have ever had. My specialists, except the shrink and the radiologist, make housecalls. Never more than $35 and cab fare. One of them prescribed a different medication for a medication that was losing its effectiveness. Then after I took it he sat and talked to me to see if I was going to have an allergic reaction.

I live in a taxfree zone. I don't pay taxes unless I fly to the capital and my ticket is taxed. In the capital they have a 16.5 percent sales tax.

Hi, retired army vet just surfing looking for fellow liberals.

I'm seriously thinking about getting out.

Looking into Chile, the southern part well away from everyone.

Thanks anon and BB. It's starting to look like South America has a following as a place to get out to...
When it becomes obvious that President Palin is about to take the reigns, watch for that loud sucking sound that Perot talked about, only this time it'll be people instead of jobs.
We'd best get there early and stake out our claims, guys!

Anybody need a heating and cooling guy in your 3rd World escape nests? There's ZERO work for me here because the top 2% control 90% of the money and they didn't make it by employing Americans... FTW, I wanna get off...

Thanks, WS. I'll keep you in mind for the job as maintenance man in my castle overlooking the South Pacific in the south of Chile...
Everybody, have a happy holiday and I'll see you after the New Year.
