The good news is that I have the computer up and running. Not to full capacity, and not with all the programs and bells and whistles that I like. I don't have sound, for example, and can't find the reason for it.
BUT...I am able, finally, to post to my blog. At least until Sunday, since I am embarking on my return tour of Vietnam early Monday.
I've wanted to go back forever -- at least for 30 years anyway -- and when She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed finally told me she didn't have the slightest degree of interest in going to Vietnam and, since I really don't like going places alone, I was in a quandary.
So I was having lunch with a good friend of mine from work -- back before I retired -- who is from Vietnam (and, in fact, is from the same village where I was stationed 40 years ago) and he informs me that he is going to Vietnam in September for his brother's wedding and why don't I tag along?
Jeez, is a bear a catholic? Does the pope shit in the woods?
Naturally I glommed onto him and we immediately started making plans. With the result that he and I are leaving early Monday for Seoul, Korea, and Hanoi, Vietnam. I'll be gone for three weeks, and I am sure that it will be much more than I hoped for: I have my own translator and tour guide! Who else can say that?
So I'll catch you all in October.
